Couple charged with murder: 16-year-old dismembered after dating app meeting

USA - Less than two weeks after a teenager was reported missing, she was murdered after meeting a couple on a dating app.

Steven Gress (35) and his partner Michelle Brandes (37) have been charged with murder .

As People reported, the pair killed 16-year-old Miranda Corsette and disposed of her remains in a dumpster in the US state of Florida.

According to the authorities, the teenager and the couple met on a dating app. While they were in contact, the 35-year-old is said to have persuaded the girl to meet for the first time on February 14.

The first meeting went off without a hitch, and authorities even believe the 16-year-old lived with the couple for a time before her grandmother reported her missing on February 24.

Authorities announced during a press conference that the teen was living with her grandmother because her parents were deceased. She was also homeschooled and had an 11-month-old baby.

It was also said that Miranda was known to local authorities as she "frequently runs away and has a history of mental health and substance abuse problems".

The investigation revealed that Gress and Brandes had argued with the teen because jewelry was missing.

"From the 20th to the 24th, she[editor's note: Miranda] was beaten and tortured because they could not find a piece of jewelry," police said.

During this time, the 35-year-old killed Miranda. He then put her body in a car, drove her to a house and began to dismember her body. There he disposed of the body parts in a garbage container.

The 35-year-old was arrested on March 5, Brandes turned himself in to the authorities yesterday, Saturday. The couple is accused of first-degree murder, Gress is also charged with kidnapping.
