Couple finds note with mysterious message on the street: Three words keep people guessing

Chicago (USA) - They are only three words, yet they have a very special meaning for a couple from the USA. Anyone who thinks "I love you" is way off the mark. Because the words probably have nothing at all to do with love and romance.

Austin (31) and her partner Zack (34) made a fresh start in 2022. The Americans wanted to leave the hardships of the coronavirus crisis behind them, packed their bags and moved from Boston to Chicago.

When they think back to those days, a blue note immediately comes to mind. It caught Austin and Zack's eye as they were walking through the streets of their new home.

"I have no idea why we kept it," Austin recently told Newsweek. But a closer look at the small piece of paper with the torn corner gives an idea of why the Americans were so taken with it.

Three mysterious words make the note so special. "DESTROY WITH MOUTH", loosely translated as "destroy with your mouth", leaves plenty of room for imagination and speculation.

Mystery of small, blue note remains unsolved

So who should tear something to pieces with their mouth? Austin and Zack have yet to find an answer. Instead, the couple are enjoying their simple street find.

In the meantime, the note has even found a prominent place in the Americans' apartment. It hangs framed on a wall that is full of curiosities.

"Some of the pieces have a story or are at least from local artists. It's just little things that we find that make us happy," said Austin. Every two years or so, the memorabilia is replaced. The blue Post-it has a good chance of being allowed to stay longer.

At least if users of the Reddit platform were allowed to have their say. It was there that Austin and Zack first reported on the cryptic three words - and caused quite a stir. However, nobody knew what the author wanted to say with his message.
