New "Snow White" movie too woke? This is how Disney reacts to criticism
USA - The long-awaited live-action adaptation of "Snow White" is set to hit cinemas in just a few days. But due to increasing controversy surrounding the film, Disney is now shortening the premiere!

Instead of the usual big premiere in the US city of Los Angeles, there will only be a quiet, relaxed pre-party for this film.
As Variety reports, Disney wants to avoid the main actors walking the red carpet and answering questions from fans and reporters.
Instead, only selected photographers and media representatives have been hired.
The company faced a lot of criticism for its reinterpretation of the story. Among other things, Disney was accused of making the film too "politically correct", as the characteristic seven dwarves were replaced by "magical figures of all sizes and genders".
There was also criticism of lead actress Rachel Zegler (23), as she was cast as a Latina actress for the role of Snow White.
Big controversy surrounding Disney's "Snow White"

Even "Game of Thrones" star Peter Dinklage (55), who is short himself, was critical: "I was a little surprised when they were very proud to cast a Latina actress as Snow White. (...) You're progressive in one way, but then you're still doing this fucking backward story about seven dwarves living together in a cave."
The Disney company responded promptly, stating that it wanted to take a "different approach" to shed the "stereotypical portrayal" of the 1937 original, according to the New York Post.
Zegler herself also caused criticism with some of her statements. Among other things, the 23-year-old called the animated "Snow White" film "extremely outdated", which did not go down well with many fans.
She also explained in an interview that her version of Snow White would be very different from the original.
"She won't be rescued by the prince and she won't dream of true love. She dreams of becoming the leader she knows she can be (...) if she is fearless, just, brave and true," said Zegler.
The live-action adaptation of "Snow White" will be released in German cinemas on March 20.
