Passenger looks out of the airplane window and is immediately alarmed
St. Louis (USA) - A moment that no traveler wants to experience while on an airplane: you discover something on the plane that you can't explain to yourself and immediately imagine the worst. This is exactly what US-American Nikki had to go through.

The young woman from Missouri was already sitting in the plane when she noticed something that she had to film immediately. Looking out of the plane window, Nikki spotted a strange brownish-yellow liquid running down the outside window.
"Um... Is that normal?" the redhead asks in her post, unsure. Fittingly, she chose the song "Anxiety" by Doechii as the background song. She also asks her viewers to tell her what she has seen.
The video went viral in no time and has already been viewed eight million times.
But instead of easing Nikki's worries, most users make fun of her: "The plane has diarrhea," comments one. Another person wrote: "Boy, you're on Jupiter."

Explanation for incident is completely harmless

Other users joke that the plane was given a large cup of coffee in order to have enough energy for the upcoming take-off.
However, the truth behind the viscous mass on the window of the passenger plane is quite simple and completely harmless.
The liquid is merely a de-icing agent, which on the one hand removes ice and snow from the aircraft and on the other hand forms a protective layer on the outer skin of the aircraft, preventing further ice formation during flight. Finally, according to CNN, ice on the wings can reduce lift by 30 percent.
The glycol contained in the agent, which lowers the freezing point of water, often has a yellowish hue - just like the liquid in Nikki's video. So the all-clear can be given!
The TikToker apparently already knew at the time of the video that she was not in any danger. After her viral hit, she poked fun at the whole situation in several follow-up videos.
